Web And Sales Player
Challenges
USE CASE OVERVIEW
An extensive archive of data such as media files, presentations or marketing applications for customer contact is always required at trade fairs, in showrooms and for further information. There are often hundreds of product experts who want to make their slides, PDF files and marketing videos available so that they can be accessed at various touchpoints at any time. However, the large number of different touchpoints also poses various challenges, such as offline functionality, permanent synchronisation with the CMS or one-time data storage despite multiple playouts.
The web and sales player from Siemens supports customer contact for more detailed access to the experts’ data by offering precisely the information that needs to be queried in sales talks, customer appointments or on the customer’s own initiative in a well-arranged, clearly structured way and equipped with a powerful search function.
OUR PROCEDURE
The B12 Group has many years of varied experience with the presentation of information at trade fairs and showrooms. Siemens focussed on several aspects here: simple and fast accessibility, support for a wide range of data formats and smooth updating during ongoing operations.
Embedded in the B12 Group’s application ecosystem, our headless CMS initially provides the general database, regardless of whether a single person or several hundred people are working on it. In addition, maintenance is supported by various automations built into the backend, such as the complete generation of data structures for a trade fair using Group interfaces or the conversion of all uploaded PowerPoint files into web applications that can then be accessed from any end device.
The web and sales player can be switched to a separate editing mode to make it easier for users who only need to maintain certain data for a few days a year. Access data to the B12 Headless CMS can then be used to fill the exact areas of the application with content that has been previously defined based on the role assignment in the backend without having to leave the application.
The implementation was carried out as a web-based application so that it can be displayed and used on the various required touchpoints in a fully responsive manner.
RESULTS
Thanks to its immense scalability, the web and sales player has become an integral part of daily work at Siemens in preparation for showrooms or trade fairs. It can be used on almost any web-enabled end device, enables a low entry hurdle for occasional users thanks to ‘what-you-see-is-what-you-get’ maintenance (WYSIWYG) and remains robust even with spontaneous updates during operation.
The generic data structures of the web player enable the implementation of further applications based on it, whose data can then also be maintained via the editing mode and thus easily reused.
STATUS QUO
This is why it is now used not only at Siemens’ leading trade fairs, but also at many smaller trade fairs and directly in showrooms. It is also very popular in virtual locations, as various internal and external Siemens applications use the web player to display detailed data.
The current focus is on driving forward the automation of the data. Future trade fairs and showrooms will be able to generate entire web player structures based on specific topics and fill them directly with the right data, such as presentations from central databases.
